Press Release:
Broadreach Services Group Ltd acquire ACS, Advanced Cleaning Services
Jack, Chris and Wendy Broadley have joined forces and combined Over 60 years’ worth of experience to rejuvenate the company of Broadreach Services Group Ltd.
On 1st October the new team at Broadreach Services Group Ltd acquired ACS, Advanced Cleaning Services, based in Exning, Newmarket. Jane Hill, will remain with the company as a Director and shareholder of ACS offering Jack, Chris and Wendy the support of her vast commercial experience combined with her valuable local knowledge.
The new Chairman of ACS, Jack Broadley has been in the cleaning industry since 1975 when he joined Pritchard’s as General Manager, Cleaners Ltd, West Midlands. He became a Director of Cleaners Ltd some 10 months later and in 1979 was appointed Managing Director of Crothall’s, the hospital cleaning division of Pritchard with responsibility for UK and Middle East.
In 1984, Jack joined David Evans at Brengreen plc as Managing Director of Exclusive Cleaning Group. Following the acquisition of Brengreen by B. E. T. plc in late 1986, he served in a number of roles within Initial including Southern Chief Executive and, latterly, President Initial Inc U.S.A.
At the end of 1989, Jack joined up again with his old friend David Evans and at the beginning of 1990 the Broadreach Group was launched. As Managing Director, Jack oversaw rapid growth with turnover in excess of £40 million by the time that Broadreach was acquired by MacLellan in 2002. He stayed on as Chief Operating Officer and then consultant until he “retired” in 2004.
During his time in the cleaning industry, Jack was a Director of the Cleaning and Support Services Association for many years and served as Chairman for two of those.
He was also Master of the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners, 2003-2004. (WCEC)
Chris Broadley, the new Managing Director of ACS, is also very well known within the cleaning industry and is a Court Assistant of the WCEC. Chris originally joined Broadreach as a Regional Manager in 1994. After a short time being promoted to the Management Board and taking on the role of Divisional Managing Director, responsible for all areas of the business from East Anglia to Scotland and Ireland, as well as National responsibility for key retail and commercial accounts and was responsible for setting up Broadreach Northern Ireland.
Following the sale to MacLellan, Chris remained as Divisional Director, before leaving to head up ICS Group as Managing Director in 2004. He helped to double ICS to more than £40m turnover, winning major contracts at Heathrow and with London Underground.
Wendy Broadley, Sales & Marketing Director for ACS, brings different experiences to the Broadreach Group. Also a Court Assistant for the WCEC, Wendy spent the last 15 years working as Sales & Marketing Director for the Commercial/Domestic machine supplier, Karcher. Wendy has had experience of dealing with all levels of businesses, from janitorial suppliers, contract cleaning companies to large multi national DIY multiples and helped in growing the Karcher UK business from a £12m company to a £60million company.
The original Broadreach Company secured their first contract for the cleaning of all the then 257 B&Q stores. The concept of national partnerships soon took off and Broadreach embarked on similar deals with Texas, Homebase, Superdrug and Littlewoods. Broadreach soon broadened its retail base with major food retail contracts with Tesco and Sainsbury as well as High Street names such as House of Fraser, Harvey Nichols and Selfridges.
Although, understandably, identified with providing services for the retail trade some 40% of its business was with commercial and other sectors. Indeed, in its time, Broadreach won Golden Service Awards for not only Retail but also in the Commercial Office, Leisure and Transport categories.
The success of Broadreach was based on tailoring services and management structures to the specific needs of the individual customer and through knowledge of the customer, to have the flexibility to adapt service provision to ever-changing client needs.
